Missionary Bio:

David was born as the eldest son into a very poor Buddhist family. When he was in the eleventh grade he received Christ as his Savior through the study of the Bible in an English class taught by Baptist Mid-Missions missionaries. Shortly after, the Lord called him into full-time Christian service through 2 Tim. 2:15 and 4:2. David completed the MRE degree at Grand Rapids Baptist Seminary in Grand Rapids , Michigan .

Melody grew up in a committed Christian family that loved to serve the Lord. Her mother led her to the Lord at age 6. At age 14 at Crystal Lake Camp, during a presentation of missions and the field of Africa, she gave her life over to the Lord to serve Him as a missionary in any country of God's choosing. Melody graduated from Grand Rapids Baptist College with a BA in music and a minor in English.

The Yoshidas began their church planting ministry in the eastern Tokyo area called Chiba-ken in 1989. They started from ground zero as church planters, and the work was very difficult. The first five or six years they saw no one come to the Lord, and wondered if it was God's will for them to continue there. But with God's help, the church that has been started recently purchase a small piece of land and hope to build on it soon.

David preaches, teaches, trains, counsels, and holds special meetings in their church. He also teaches in an area Bible school that trains laymen in the church for pastoral and mission works. He is involved in visitation and outreach ministries.
