Fred & Rachel Whitman - Italy

April 6, 2009
Dear friends,
I know that many of you have heard of the devastating earthquake that hit Central Italy last night. We appreciate the numerous emails of concern we have received, and we want to reassure you that Perugia was not affected. Some of our church people did say they woke up to feel their homes shaking, but Fred and I both slept through it.
We would ask you, however, to be in prayer for your brothers and sisters in Christ that live in the area of L'Aquila. They were right in the center of the quake, and the news is reporting that as many as 100,000 may have lost their homes. Right now it is raining very hard in L'Aquila, so they are having to contend with the rain, as well as this disaster.
We have been able to get news from Pastor Giorgio DeAngelis; his home and family are fine, and he has been in touch with each of the families of the church he pastors. Their church hall was near the center of the city which was hit the hardest, so we are imagining that there will be damage to their meeting place.
Please pray for the believers as they endure this hardship. Pray as well for an effective ministry to thousands around them who have lost homes and loved ones.
Love in Christ,
Rachel for the Whitmans
