Nature of ministry:
The Vissers are now involved in four primary areas of service. The first is at the Baptist Pastoral Bible Institute in northeast France, near the German, Luxembourg and Belgian borders. God is raising up Christian workers for our churches and various other ministries around the country, as well as missionaries for the whole French-speaking world, and we are pleased to have a part in equipping them for their callings.
The second area of service is helping their co-workers Roger and Jean Reisachers, plant a new church among the French-speaking population of Luxembourg City.
The third area of service involves a French national mission agency, which Rich serves currently as president. We currently have eleven families serving in France, Bulgaria, Belgium, Cameroon, Morocco and Algeria. It is a challenge to serve these missionaries as the number of good Bible-preaching churches that can support them is small, but God is great and He is providing.
The last area of service is to our fellow-missionaries as they are the current Field team leaders for France. That involves overseeing the implementation of the field strategic plan and encouraging their fellow workers in their ministries.

Missionary Bio:
Richard was born in Traverse City , Michigan , and was saved as a young man at a Junior High Camp at Crystal Lake . He has always had an interest in missions, but it wasn't until seminary that God specifically directed him to foreign missions through hearing missionary speakers and reading Matthew 28:19-20. He received a diploma from Moody Bible Institute, earned his B.A. degree from Indiana University , and his M. Div. at Grand Rapids Baptist Seminary.
Karyn was born in Chengtu , China . She was saved at age 10. She grew up in the church and dedicated her life to the Lord in the ninth grade. After she graduated from Moody Bible Institute, she and Rich were married, and in 1976 He called them to France . They have both earned diplomas from Alliance Francaise, a French language school.
The Vissers ministry in France involves church planting and training. During the first twenty years of their ministry they started two churches, in La Rochelle and Nantes , and saw many people come to the Lord in both areas.
The Vissers have also been involved in training through the French pastoral Baptist Bible Institute. As an extension of the ministry of the Institute, Rich and co-workers from the Institute make several trips into Romania each year to hold training seminars for young men interested in the ministry.
In 2001 Rich transitioned to a full-time ministry at the Bible Institute, serving as the Academic Dean. They fell their efforts are multiplied, because they are influencing many young people who are going out and starting churches and winning people to the Lord. In addition to their responsibilities at the Institute, the Vissers are involved with another couple in a church plant in Luxembourg .
