Missionary Bio:
Jerry was raised on a farm in rural Guthrie County , Iowa . He was saved during revival meetings when he was 13, but it was not until he attended a Bible Camp after graduation from high school that he realized he needed to make his life count for Christ. He attended Omaha Bible Institute that fall and a few months later he dedicated his life for the Gospel ministry while attending a Missions Conference. Jerry graduated from Omaha Bible Institute in 1955.
Wyzetta was also born and raised in Iowa . After some very difficult childhood experiences, she realized her need for salvation at the age of 14 as the result of a bus ministry. Later, at Clear Lake Baptist Bible Camp, she dedicated her life to Christ for missionary service. During her high school years she made her home with two different families in her home church. These families had a big influence in her life for Christian growth and separated living.
Wyzetta attended Omaha Bible Institute for one year, and later attended Poplar Bluff Practical Nursing School , and in 1991 graduated from ASU College of Nursing with her RN degree.
Jerry and Wyzetta spent two years working as independent missionaries in Kentucky in the rural schools. They very soon saw the need to establish Baptist churches, and were accepted by Baptist Mid-Missions as missionaries in February, 1957. The Titus's started, or worked with, churches in seven states. They also spent 4 years as Resident Administrator at the Missionary Retirement Village in Arkansas .
The Tituses moved to Elkhart in the spring of 1991 to start Rivercrest Baptist Church. The first services were held in September, 1991, and the church voted to become self supporting in April, 1996.
From October, 1996 through mid 1999 the Tituses were the House Parents of the MK House in Elkhart . This home for Missionary Kids was begun to provide a safe haven for children of missionaries who are still on the foreign field. After this home was closed in 1999 the Tituses continued their ministry to MKs, visiting them on college campuses and participating in the Mk snow retreat.
The Tituses served as interim pastor for several years, and then had a ministry of pulpit supply as health problems permitted. They are now retired.
