Dear Prayer Partners:

Thank you for your prayers for me as I have been on furlough ministry the past 6 months.

Thanks to all for your prayers for safety and protection over the many miles traveled by car, plane, or train. Also for your prayers for good health as it has been a very busy schedule.

During these past months I have been reminded of what happened with the apostle Paul as he returned to Jerusalem , he was greeted warmly by his brothers in Christ, he greeted them and gave a report of what God had done among the Gentiles through his ministry, and they praised God.  That has also been my experience during these months.

I want to say thank you to my brothers and sisters in Christ at Stony Creek Baptist Church, Latham Bible Baptist Church, Hagerman Baptist Church, Edgewood Baptist Church, Cornerstone Baptist Church, Independent Baptist Church, Thurman Baptist Church, Center White Creek Baptist Church, Somers Baptist Church, Mountainside Bible Chapel, Good News Baptist Church, First Baptist Church of Shell Rock, IA, Cedar Heights Baptist Church, First Baptist Church in Bristol, IN, Walnut Ridge Baptist Church, and Campus Baptist Church for greeting me warmly, encouraging me in many ways, being partners in ministry, and praising God with me for what God has done in and through my ministry in Brazil. Thanks to all of you who have shown gracious hospitality to me by housing me or providing meals.

The best part of furlough ministry is getting acquainted or re-connected with my brothers and sisters in Christ here in the USA and hearing what God is doing in your lives. What a blessing to hear testimony of God changing your lives and your growth in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ, and how God is giving you opportunities to share God's Word with others.  It has also been exciting for me as God has given me several opportunities to share the gospel message with people I have met while traveling and opportunities to encourage some to pursue missions and serve God full-time.

Please pray for the remainder of my time in the USA as I will be visiting family and plan to return to Brazil on January 17, 2008 .  Please pray for the $389 monthly support needed so that I can return to the field at that time.

Please continue to pray for the ministry in Brazil: good reports are coming in regarding the Brazilian co-pastor named Ernando and his ministry in the church in Campo Grande, and pray for God to work in the hearts of various people with whom I would like to do individual evangelistic Bible studies such as my neighbors – Marilene and Mrs. Benta, Vera, Claunice, Selma, and Auria.

Your missionary serving Christ with her whole heart,

Lynell Smith, 1 Samuel 12:24
