February 2010

Dear Partners in Ministry,

Greetings to you in the name of our wonderful and faithful Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I trust you have found great encouragement from His Word today.

Christmas is past . . . January is over . . .maybe, just maybe, this is the year of our Lord’s return. Maranatha!

The church in Boonville continues on a positive note. This is the final year of keeping the church on ‘Mission Status.’ And we are on target for turning the church over by December of this year. However, there are several things that must be accomplished. 1) We must train the leadership of the church to take on the responsibility. Our goal this year is to have 3 pastors come and to help me teach the men on being deacons and leaders of the church. 2) There are several projects in the church that we want to see accomplished as well. The church needs to have the bathrooms updated, new entry doors installed, new lights in the gymnasium, etc. This will only be accomplished as money and laborers are available. Praise the Lord, one new door will be installed this month as we now have money on hand from our Christmas Gifts for Christ project. 3) The Doctrinal Statement of the church needs to be finalized 4) and finally, in October, our goal is to form a committee as we begin selecting deacons and forming a pulpit committee. Yes, this is an exciting year as we look and prepare for the future. Please pray with us!

The Youth ministry on Wednesday nights continues to grow. We are now averaging 65-70 unchurched kids each week. Fourteen kids have been saved this school year with 3 kids rededicating their lives to Christ. This is exciting as we see these kids now inviting their friends to come as well. However, without their parent’s involvement, they are not able to attend on Sunday’s. Our goal is to reach the families and to see some of them coming on Sunday’s.

Prayer Items:

  • Pray that our major goals will be reached this year
  • Jack is had (left) knee surgery and (right) foot surgery (same day) on January 13th. Pray for recovery
  • Ladies Bible Study will began on January 11th.
  • Men’s Discipleship class will begin in February.

Needs:

  • A team that could supply the materials and labor to redo our bathrooms
  • A team to supply the materials & labor to repaint the entry and fellowship rooms
  • We are in need of a good used mini-bus or van for our Wednesday Youth Ministry
  • We need gymnasium lights – at the present time, we are using recessed spot lights that are normally used in a home situation and they do not produce enough light. This is a half court gym. We need help!
  • We also need 100 folding or stacking chairs for our fellowship room ( I can pick them up)
  • If a church is purchasing new hymnals, we could use about 100 of the old ones that are in good condition

Thank you for your continued and faithful support. In this time of economic uncertainty, I am sure that your finances for the church and individually have taken a drastic reduction. But God is Good! He is faithful. And only He gets the glory.

We trust you will have a wonderful year.

Sincerely,

Jack and Marilyn Slough
