Missionary Bio:
Jack attended the Indiana College of Mortuary Science. His brother-in-law led him to the Lord at the age of 21, while he was working at a funeral home. Over the next several years Jack grew in the Lord. While living in Evansville , Indiana , the Lord called him into full-time Christian service. He and Marilyn went back to college at Tennessee Temple for further training and it was at this time that the Lord called them into foreign missions.
Marilyn was raised in a good Christian home but didn't have assurance of her salvation until she was 16 years old. She went to Bob Jones University and while working between semesters she met Jack here in Elkhart .
The Sloughs are ministering in Norway . During their first term, they helped another missionary establish the Skjetten Baptist Church, and were also involved in a literature distribution ministry, a hospitality ministry, 5-day clubs, Bible camp, Sunday School, and music.
In September, 1985, they took over the Free International Baptist Church in Sandvika, an English speaking ministry. This work is truly an international ministry. There is a NATO base nearby, and a university, so they have people from many countries attending their church. And since many Norwegians speak English, the church is able to minister to them as well.
