Missionary Bio:

Jon was born in India to missionary parents and says that experience exposed all five of his senses to the mission field for nearly twelve years. A number of people crossed his path in the ensuing years as a teenager in Elk Rapids, Michigan , who where very influential in his eventually landing in Lisbon Portugal to begin a missionary career. He received his B.R.E. from Baptist Bible College . After college, he interned one year at Calvary Baptist School of Church Ministries.

At the age of nine, Marilyn became very concerned about life after death. She talked to her mother, who led her to Christ that evening. The Lord used the words of 1 Chronicles 28:9 and 20 to bring her to the place of being willing to do whatever He wanted her to do. While on the Missionary Apprenticeship Program in Brazil , she was convinced that the Lord was directing her to serve Him on a foreign field. Marilyn graduated from Baptist Bible College with a Bachelor of Sacred Music degree. She then received a B.S. degree in Elementary Education from the same college three years later.

Jon and Marilyn met while attending Baptist Bible College of Pennsylvania, and have served in Portugal since 1984 with ABWE. After completing a year of language study in Portugal , their primary task has been helping start three Churches in the suburbs of Lisbon , (Ramada, Loures & Miratejo) which have been the first Baptist churches to ever be built in those cities. During one term (‘94-'98) they were responsible for leading the field team in the construction of the Lisbon Training Center which has had a significant impact on the overall effectiveness of the ABWE ministry in Portugal . Recently they moved to a new suburb, Samora Correia, to begin the process of church planting once again.
