Nature of ministry:
The people of Venezuela are very open to the Gospel and there are many opportunities to witness, but there are many challenges in the jungle. It is a huge area with 19 rivers, and the villages are only accessible by river. Each missionary tries to visit specific villages a couple of times a year, but it is hard to get to them all. Their goal is to train indigenous people what God says and give them the vision to reach other indigenous people.

Missionary Bio:
Alvaro was raised in a Catholic family in Uruguay . While attending a public high school he met Glenys, his future wife. She asked him to attend church with him. He wondered why the people there were different. The preacher preached the Word and he was saved in 1978. He attended the WOL Bible Institute in Argentina for four years.
Alvaro currently serves as WOL's Field Director for Venezuela . Alvaro has a number of ministries he overseas including the Jungle Bible Institute. WOL Venezuela is growing and now has two properties. The property in the jungle is 16 acres and was given to them by the government. Sophie Mueller started this ministry over 50 years ago. WOL began working with it about 16 years ago. There is another property 90 miles from Caracas which is 160 acres.
WOL's ministry to youth focuses on ages 12 to 28. Kids come for a full week in early September. They have Bible studies every morning, special meetings, sports, and campfire night.
Another ministry is a drama program called Born Again. They also help churches with Bible clubs and youth programs. They teach people to use the Bible in practical ways, studying it and memorizing Scripture.
