Missionary Bio:

Being born in a Christian home provided Wesley with the opportunity of hearing the Gospel preached from a very early age. At the age of nine, he accepted Christ as his Savior during an evangelistic meeting in his church. He is the fourth child in a family of eleven children. His father is a businessman in Recife . His mother worked for awhile as a school teacher and later as a nurse. Upon graduation from secondary school, he moved to Minnesota where he attended Pillsbury Baptist College of Owatonna. During his senior year, the Lord called him into the ministry. He graduated in 1969 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. The following year he enrolled at Central Baptist Theological Seminary of Minneapolis where he received the Bachelor of Theology and Mastor of Divinity degrees.

Tena is a native of Minnesota where she grew up in a Christian home. She was saved at the age of twelve but did not have assurance of salvation until her first year in college. She is also a graduate of Pillsbury College where she majored in Bible and Missions and minored in History.

Wesley and Tena served the Lord for nearly fifteen years as church planters and teachers in the southern part of Brazil . They ministered in the capital city of the state of Parana from 1979 through 1994 and were used in the establishing of three churches, and were instrumental in the training of forty-six young people in the Parana Baptist Seminary. Most of these graduates are today in full time Christian service. .

The language spoken in Brazil is Portuguese, which is of course Wesley's mother language. In 1994, the Oliveiras returned to the United States and began a new ministry. They began a church in the Tampa Bay area in Florida , and are ministering to Brazilians and other Portuguese speaking people in that area. There are over six-thousand Portugese speaking people in the Tampa Bay area, plus many others living in Orlando , just an hour away.
