Nature of ministry:

In 2006 the Lambrights ‘retired' from the foreign field and transferred to stateside ministry. Gene hopes to continue teaching, and they are exploring the possibility of starting a mobile Bible Institute. There is a large Spanish population in Northern Indiana so it would be an ideal location for such a school. They also want to remain active in El Salvador as much as possible, raising funds, and making trips down there occasionally to teach at the Bible Institute.

Missionary Bio:

Gene was led to the Lord by a Christian teacher in junior high school in Goshen during a shop class. Gene received a B.A. from Grace College in Winona Lake, Indiana, and attended Talbot Seminary in California . It was while he was attending seminary that Gene and Sylvia were challenged concerning missions.

Sylvia accepted the Lord at age 11 at her home church in Pennsylvania . She dedicated her life to the Lord after hearing Dr. Theodore Epp at a conference. She received a B.S. degree from Grace College . Gene and Sylvia both graduated from the Spanish Language Institute in Costa Rica .

The Lambrights spent 15 years as missionaries with Central American Missions International in the country of El Salvador . In that ministry they were involved in Bible teaching, literature distribution, evangelism, church planting, and relief work. God blessed in El Salvador with the establishment of many churches, the training of nationals, and the winning of many souls.

After a five year leave of absence in the United States , the Lambrights began a ministry in Costa Rica in 1989.

Gene was the Director of the Central American Bible Institute in San Jose until a national director was hired in 1994. Gene and Sylvia's ministry involved local church ministry, evangelism and teaching. Gene worked in the Bible Institute training pastors, and creating and printing literature to be used in evangelism. Sylvia worked with evangelizing children, D.V.B.S., Sunday School, music, Bible Clubs, and women's work. Both Gene and Sylvia did discipleship training.
