"I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God made it grow. So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow."
1 Corinthians 3:6-7

There's a temptation when I write these letters to talk about what Ryan and I are doing to prove that we are working for the Lord and are worthy of your support.  But Paul's words to the Corinthians are a solid reminder Who is truly doing the work and Who deserves all the praise.

SCORE's ministry is not just about giving Americans the opportunity to go minister in a foreign country for a week.  We desire and know that the Bible teaches to go and preach the gospel and make disciples (Mark 16:15, Matthew 28:19-20).   We aim to see 1 Corinthians 3:6 played out as the American groups plant the seeds through their service, giving, and preaching so that the local pastors here have another field to water and see new harvest.  And underlying all of that is God's power to make them grow.  Let me give you a recent example of how that works.

Two weeks ago we had a group here from Timothy Christian School in NJ.  Every year they bring their Senior Class to minister in a couple different locations.  One of those locations is the children's hospital, Robert Reed, in Santo Domingo.  There is not enough staff in this hospital to meet to all of the needs of the patients so a member from the family is required to stay with the child at all times.  Family members can switch out, but somebody has to be there to feed them, change them, etc.  So the students of TCS brought toys, balloons, and tracts to share the gospel with the children & their families.  Praise the Lord one person was saved that night.  Well later that week a local church from Santo Domingo that SCORE partners with also went to minister and share the gospel at Robert Reed.  And what a harvest!  Twenty-six people made professions of accepting Jesus Christ as their Savior.  So the group from TCS planted the seeds, the church members from Alma Rosa watered, but all glory to our Lord who made the seeds grow!  Now members from that church can go back and have the contact information to disciple those new converts. Many of those children may not see many days, but for those who excepted Christ and their family members they will live for eternity in Heaven.

Praise the Lord for the work that He does in our lives and others.
