Nature of ministry:
The Cryans are currently serving as missionaries with EBM, working primarily with Bethesda Outreach Ministries in South Africa. Their time will be divided between South Africa and the States. In South Africa their ministry will center around training, counseling and discipleship for the Betheda houseparents, staff, and administrators, working with them in the areas of interpersonal relationships, resolving conflicts, counseling principles, etc. They will also work with local pastors and lay people, helping them learn how to carry out or work with orphan care ministries.
In the States their responsibilities will include representing Bethesda, raising awareness of the ministry, and fostering new and ongoing relationships. They will present Bethesda's ministry in churches, maintain contact with donors, and give Marriage and Family Seminars (among other things). They will also be responsible for planning, coordinating and preparing teams who will be going to the field. When needed, they will also be available for counseling needs on other EBM fields.

Missionary Bio:
Roger and Carol grew up in Western N.Y., and met when they were in high school. They have been married 35 years, have two married daughters, and six grandchildren.
Roger was raised in a Christian home, and went forward at an evangelistic meeting when he was eight. However, it wasn't until his early teen years, while listening to a missionary from Ghana explain the Gospel, that he truly understood the gospel message and accepted Christ as his savior.
Carol grew up in an unsaved family with a father who was adamantly opposed to talk of Christ or church and a mother who cared little for her family. After her mother's death from heart disease when Carol was in junior high, several families in their community, who were members of a Bible-believing church, took an interest in her and she began attending youth activities and services with them. She was saved several months later after attending evangelistic services at this church, as the months of teaching she had heard about Christ and His death for sinner finally became clear to her.
Roger spent a number of years in pastoral ministry in four different churches, and he and Carol have training and experience in counseling. They also served as houseparents and houseparent supervisors for Baptist Children's Home.
